My Woman’s March on Washington Journey Quilt

Did you attend the Woman’s March on Washington? I so, I need your help. I am working on an art quilt that represents the individual paths that 470,00 woman, men, and children walked on January 21st in D.C. at the Woman’s March. I plan to stitch your footsteps into a large quilted map of the Mall and the surrounding area. I would love to incorporate your journey into my fiber art piece for Threads of Resistance. I would like to know the streets that you walked on Saturday, January 21st. Start with the Metro that you got off at, or where your bus dropped you off. Then retrace your steps. How far did you get? Where did you go? Could you see the stage? Hear the jumbotrons? I would also like to know a little bit about you so I can remember your story as I stitch your path. – Where do you live? – Why did you go to the Woman’s March? – What was your favorite poster slogan(s)? WIP Wednesday: Fractal Quilt

I recently started sewing again, and I’ve been in the mood to quilt. Even though I’ve been sewing since I was 12, I’ve only made one quilt. I made a quilt for my book At Home with Modern June. That quilt was a simple quilt that I made with 5″ scrapes, and it was similar to a 1970’s crazy quilt that my Grr (Grandma) gave me when I was just out of college. I found myself intrigued with Alexandra Winston’s book Quilt Lab, and her Fractal Quilt pattern kept lingering in my mind. I was able to meet her at a Quilt Market when out C&T Publishing books came out in 201?. Last Saturday I set out to start two identical quilts one for my son, Aidan, and another for my brother. My brother, Steve, is a mathematics professor, so a fractal quilt seemed like the perfect fit. Once I got into my second day …

WIP Wednesday: Hexies and Patchwork

I haven’t sewn much since I stopped taking orders last December. It took a long time to even want to sit at a sewing machine. Once I had the need to sew, I made myself a to-do list that I HAD to get done before I could start something. I’ve really missed sitting at my sewing machine, putting on my headphones and listening to TV on Netflix. It’s like an escape from my normal life. Right now I’m rewatching/listening to Life. Love me some Damian Lewis!! I have a couple of projects in the works right now. Yesterday I started making a fun and easy quilt for my hammock, it’ll tie on and it might even have a pocket or two. I’m hoping to have it done for the fall lounging season, it’s way too hot for it now. I’m using a pretty little fabric called Little Ruby by Bonnie and Camille that design fabric for Moda. I bought 2 jelly rolls and I making a rail step quilt top. I’m also playing around with …
