The First Monday…

I woke up this morning thinking that the first Monday of the year was the worst. Here we are at the end of a long holiday vacation and it’s time to get back to work and school. The thing is, is that I found myself very excited about something totally unexpected; I’m excited to get back to my job as a “housewife” most of all. Since I work (2/3’s of the time) and teach my kids at home, I spend a LOT of time in the house. It’s my domain from 8:30 – 7:00 while Mr. Modern June is off at work. As much as I love having him here for the bulk of 10 days, it’s really great to get back into normal routines. Combine that with it being a new year and a new start and it’s time to clean. So this morning, instead of opening the shop up, doing the dreaded inventory and starting to homeschool again, I’m going to nest. My goal is to get my kitchen looking as good as …

A New Beginning!

I’ve spent the last week fussing about with content categories and calendars, while learning how to use WordPress to make a brand new blog. I had hoped to have a weeks worth of blog posts lined up by this morning (insert hysterical laughter). But as usual, life got in the way. During the last 9 days we’ve had 3 wonderful holidays. I’ve watched my eldest turn 17, celebrated a peaceful Christmas and I’ve gone bowling with family for New Years Eve! So, here I sit at my dining room table welcoming you to my new blog on the morning of New Years Day! My vision for this blog is to combine my two blogs into one lifestyle blog. In January 2007 I started my first blog, Modern June and the following year I started up another blog titled Oilcloth Addict. For years, I felt like it wise to keep the two blogs and their corresponding Etsy shops separate, but those concerns have long passed. The days of running two shop and writing two blogs is …
