CAMP declutter: Bookcase Styling

I can’t believe that we are 10 weeks into 2017, how can that be? I am very excited to share with you this week’s CAMP declutter project, it’s a big one! Last week, I started cleaning up the far left corner of my foyer that often becomes a dumping ground. After I put all my envelopes and mail supplies into the old yellow box, I got busy cleaning up the bookcases.     I spent a day or two purging books and rearranging them, they had been loosely organized by color, and now they are organized by subject matter. I’ve culled these shelves about 5 times in the last 12 months, each time I get rid of a little more. A year ago, I started sorting out all the homeschool books from years past. Unfortunately, I added other books and board games, keeping the shelves jammed full. Why were there so many books on the shelves? Like I said, I had to do that a few times, slowly getting rid or storing sentimental books. As …

Vintage Tray Wall

It’s back! The tray wall is back up and bigger. There are few things that I like more than a good vintage tray, the illustrations and a bit of rust, I love it all. When I’m out junkin’, I keep my eyes peeled for a tray for my collection. I started collecting trays over 20 years ago when I was a newlywed. Don and I found the firest few together, we’ve been gifted a few, and many of them have come from Country Living Fairs.  At last count, I have 33 trays. To hang the trays, I use English Flatiron Discs and traditional plate hangers. I really like the way the trays look with the adhesive Flatiron Disc’s look, but they are tricky to use. If they aren’t lined up perfectly, they will not hang right. They are also a pricier compared to the spring loaded hangers. To start hanging this gallery wall, I laid out the center section of trays on my dining room table. Once I got that hung, I just played around …

Collecting Chickens

It’s not a very extensive collection as collections go, but it’s one of my favorites. As I mentioned in my last post, Chicken Obsessed, I love me some chickens! I’ve recently looked everywhere for more. Today I thought that I show off my little chicks and roosters! This gal is my all time favorite. I had seen it at one of my favorite antique shops in the Lakeside neighborhood of Richmond, VA. It was during my hubbies layoff, and I had no business buying anything that wasn’t food at the time. But, come on! I needed a little joy too, so I went back and bought her up. When I started hunting for my chickens, I found most of them on the little red shelves that hang above the counter that divides my kitchen and dining room. There you will find this beautiful art card from JBS Mercantile; Jenni has them in stock in her Etsy shop in case you need one too! Of course, I have a nesting milk glass hen. I’m pretty sure …
