CAMP declutter: Bookcase Styling

I can’t believe that we are 10 weeks into 2017, how can that be? I am very excited to share with you this week’s CAMP declutter project, it’s a big one! Last week, I started cleaning up the far left corner of my foyer that often becomes a dumping ground. After I put all my envelopes and mail supplies into the old yellow box, I got busy cleaning up the bookcases.     I spent a day or two purging books and rearranging them, they had been loosely organized by color, and now they are organized by subject matter. I’ve culled these shelves about 5 times in the last 12 months, each time I get rid of a little more. A year ago, I started sorting out all the homeschool books from years past. Unfortunately, I added other books and board games, keeping the shelves jammed full. Why were there so many books on the shelves? Like I said, I had to do that a few times, slowly getting rid or storing sentimental books. As …

Vintage Tray Wall

It’s back! The tray wall is back up and bigger. There are few things that I like more than a good vintage tray, the illustrations and a bit of rust, I love it all. When I’m out junkin’, I keep my eyes peeled for a tray for my collection. I started collecting trays over 20 years ago when I was a newlywed. To hang the trays, I use English Flatiron Discs and traditional plate hangers. I really like the way the trays look with the adhesive Flatiron Disc’s look, but they are tricky to use. If they aren’t lined up perfectly, they will not hang right. They are also a pricier compared to the spring loaded hangers. To start hanging this gallery wall, I laid out the center section of trays on my dining room table. Once I got that hung, I just played around …

CAMP declutter – Catch-All Basket

I have a thing for piles! Piles of paper, piles of books, piles of projects. You name it; I’ve had a pile of it. In my attempt to cull and make pretty (CAMP) the small places I am always looking for a simple solution for a cluttered spot. I mentioned that I’d be working on my sink cabinet this week, well, that project has grown. Redoing that cabinet now includes the two kitchen cabinets and my pantry. It’s all very exciting, I’ll reveal it next week. So for this week, I have a quick fix for us. I was tidying up the dining room this morning, I grimaced at the overflowing papers, that seems to live on a bar stool in my dining room. That’s when I noticed a basket from HomeGoods. There it was, in the corner, just 18″ away. DUH!   I bought this covered basket ($8.99) for the bathroom earlier this month, but it was too big, and I planned to return it. Glad I didn’t! Anything of current importance is in …
